For over 50 years, our core value has been to respect people. With all that has come to light in recent years we have expanded that value to also embrace a clear respect for the environment that sustains us all. We are proud to qualify to work in communities with some of the most demanding environmental standards on record. We are also privileged to work with general contractors who are leaders in sustainable construction practices.
While leading the way in innovative shotcrete applications, Superior has also pioneered construction techniques that have reduced negative environmental impacts. While initially designed to save money, many of our innovative techniques have the added benefit of conserving natural resources. Our applications greatly streamline the use of forms, replacing older applications that used a tremendous amount of lumber.
Superior has additionally developed an expertise in the restoration and repair of aging buildings and infrastructure that allows continued use and avoids massive demolitions with serious landfill consequences.
We are always honored to work on Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design projects such as the USC School of Cinematic Arts. On this registered LEED certified project, Superior had the expertise to construct the shear walls delivering a viable 1-sided shotcrete wall application in lieu of CIP. While shotcrete is not the traditional solution for shear walls, we have proved it over and over again as a cost saving and environmentally friendly construction application.
Great potential exists to reduce the carbon impact of the construction needed to keep vital communities functioning. Superior takes its responsibility very seriously and has a strategy to remain committed to green and sustainable practices.
Whether we lay protective barriers to prevent shotcrete from finding its way into sensitive habitat, or hang protective mesh to prevent overspray from reaching vegetation, or recycle spoil piles, or something as simple as recycling the great number of plan sets we encounter each year, Superior has the vision to be a leader in practices and innovations that reduce the environmental implications associated with construction.
